Doors!

Remember when the door fairy came in November??

I finally got around to painting all 6 doors - 4 in January and the last 2 last weekend!
I did have to do some resanding and repainting on the 2 in the office, since they didn't shut smoothly.  Even with my electric sander it took forever to get everything perfect.  I am happy with my work!

Now we need to figure out what to do with the other 7 slatted closet doors...

Master bedroom doors that have pealing paint - Yuck!!
We need the slats for ventilation, but trying to sand and repaint these doors would be miserable, but a quick search at Home Depot looks like replacement doors would cost $160+ each!
The hall, living room, and bathroom closets look like this, sort of ok, but not as pretty as the new doors!
Our other interior doors were $30 each.  Maybe the door fairy would have an idea.... or some elbow grease to fix the doors is worth it.  Things to ponder....

Paint tip - between coats (hours to a day) wrap your paint tools in plastic wrap so you don't have to clean-up multiple times!
I also wrap it all up in a drop cloth, just to keep it all from drying out.
Work in progress!
The Ugly Duckling House blog also just wrote a post about this technique, so I'm not the only lazy and crazy one :)

Enjoy!

Mon, March 18thStill sick L
Tues, March 19thSince I had taken a 3hr nap on Monday, I decided it was time to get my butt in gear and kick this illness out with exercise!  Bootcamp was fun and hard, but I felt great after!  I also took Molly for a 2.2mile walk.
Wed, March 20thStarted a new yoga class, it was ok.  The program offers flexibility to try different classes, so I might do that.
Thurs, March 21stBootcamp morning!  I really do love the feeling after working out!
Fri, March 22ndThought about running, but the weather wasn’t that nice, so I bundled up and took Molly for a 3.02mile walk.
Sat, March 23rdlazy day celebrating G’s b-day!
Sun, March 24th2.13mile walk with Molly and G, followed by lots of errands and testing out G’s new Weber grill!

Curtains for the office

The office needs curtains.

We have 2 windows in the room and need 4 panels.  I found something that would sort of work, but they were $60/panel.  For $240, I better love them!

Ikea, Target, World Market, and Pier1 all have ok curtains.  PotteryBarn and WestElm are too pricey!  I have toyed with making my own, but I don't have a sewing machine (I'm okay with just using hem tape!) and some of the fabrics I have liked online are at least $10/yard, some $20/yard!  I also don't have a good feel for what would look nice with the patterned rug.  Nothing too jazzy since I still want the rug to be the focus.  Humm.

After some pinterest searching I found these curtains on Etsy -

Love them, but out of my price range!  But, I could buy some already made curtains from Ikea or Target and then add my own grosgrain ribbon.  My kind of DIY and I already did something like that in our living room!

But now the questions are what color of curtains to get and what can I find the grosgrain ribbon in a color I like?? - thinking teal to "match" with the paint and rug.

Ribbon done!  I love google - Hair Bow Center has 1.5" grosgrain ribbon in Jade - Perfect!

Curtain color...white?? tan?? grey?? navy blue?? oatmeal??
The room does need another accent color, but I am not sure what that is.  I think the best thing, is to order the ribbon and then test it at Ikea and Target with my paint swatches.

Thoughts/comments/suggestions...
thanks!

Sat, March 16thI was supposed to start a new workout class, but the class had been cancelled and because of a miscommunication, I was not notified.  Annoying to say the least.  I was able to my errands done early and walk 3.33 mile with Molly, so not a total waste J

Sun, March 17th – Happy St. Patrick’s Day!  I have a little bit of Irish in me and remember as a kid having to eat corn beef and cabbage on this day.  It was the disgusting!  I clearly remember sitting at the table for hours trying to eat dinner, gagging, and trying to hide food in my napkin.  Awful!  So we don’t have any St. Patrick’s Day tradition, except to stay away from corn beef and cabbage!
Molly and did walk for 3.01 mile and I finished painting our bedroom and bathroom doors and planted spring flowers in our window box.  Productive day!

Hope your workout/running have been going well!
Enjoy!

February Mileage

Artichoke looking dapper.

Running - 21.60miles
Walking - 32.91miles

Yearly totals -
Running - 58.10miles
Walking - 58.67miles

Crazy that I ran and walked the same amount of miles this year!

On another unrelated note - I crossed off another New Year's Resolution goal - finished reading "Death Comes to Pemberley" by PD James.  It was okay.  I haven't read any of the Jane Austin "continuation" books before and this one seemed lacking.  Skip it!

Enjoy!
