WWW

Mon, May 20thI thought we had bootcamp, but my instructor was still out of town that morning, so I decided to run in the evening…. Not the best idea since it was soo hot.  It turned into a 1.2mile run (0.2mile warm-up walk, 1mile in 9:29) and 2.17mile walk with Molly.

Tues, May 21stBootcamp morning with ~1mile of running and my ladies fitness class in the evening.  We had a new instructor who was okay.  She is a dancer and the workout felt like an aerobics class.  This white girl has no rhythm, so I try to stay away from coordinated aerobic/dance-like classes!  I’ll be back, since I know she is temporary sub, but you won’t be finding me at any other aerobic/dance workout classes!

Wed, May 22ndOff morning – had an 8am meeting!
Thurs, May 23rdBootcamp morning! And 1.65mile walk with Molly in the evening.

Fri, May 24thLast bootcamp L  I had mentioned before that the gym was closing.  It did at the end of April and we have been working out in another gym for May.  I have really enjoyed my ~13months of working out there.  Hopefully, I can find another great place to workout to augment my running.  In the mean time, my goal for June is to finally get back into the pool!  Have I ever mentioned that I swam competitively for ~9years (8th grade – college)!  After being in the pool 30+ hours a week, I have had little interest in getting wet.  But with my foot thing, I have been thinking more and more about getting back in the pool, so I set a goal for June!  I hope that by putting it on the blog, you will hold me to this goal!

Sat, May 25thRun morning – 3.1miles in 31:34!  And 2mile cool down walk with Molly.  It was ~50degs out, perfect running weather for me!
Splits –
Mile 1 – 9:33
0.61miles @ 9:35
2min walk break
0.42miles @ 9:37
1min walk break
0.93miles @ 9:52

Sun, May 26thAnother run morning – 3miles in 31:23 and 1.64mile walk with Molly.  It was ~55degs out, again perfect running temps!
Splits –
Mile 1 – 9:42
0.16miles @ 9:26
2min walk break
0.76miles @9:56
2min walk break
0.89miles @ 9:42

Mon, May 27thSort of a lazy morning….I had plans to run, but I didn’t sleep well, so we just took Molly for a 2.5mile walk.  The holiday was spent doing chores around the house, cooking, and napping!  Hope you had a great Memorial Day!

Enjoy!

Power Blueberry Muffins

Another Pinterest find!  Blueberry muffins made with Greek yogurt and oatmeal.

I did make one change and have one recommendation....
Instead of 4tbls butter, I used 2tbls butter and 2tbls olive oil.  I really like the taste olive oil adds to baked goods.
The recipe recommends Chobani Greek yogurt.... I did a Greek yogurt taste test and Chobani is by far the worst Greek yogurt on the market.  To me it is very grainy, resulting is a awful texture.  In my opinion, Fage is the BEST Greek yogurt on the market.  I like the plain yogurt and also the added fruit cups for breakfast after bootcamp.  So, in conclusion (rambling...) just pick your favorite Greek yogurt to use.  And it if you haven't tried Fage, get to your grocery store!!

Enjoy!

My new friend

Have I told you about Nadeau furniture store?
I love love love this store and would buy everything in it!  They sell solid wood furniture at very reasonable prices.  We got that bookshelf/liquor cabinet for ~$650 back in November and my nightstand a few years ago for ~$130.
Again, I love my nightstand and would love to get more matching pieces, like the buffet....
Sadly, we don't have room for a buffet, so I have been keeping my eye out for another small cabinet to match my nightstand for our charging station in the living room.  Our lovely Pottery Barn charging station has lived on a black TV tray for years!  Yuck!
The other weekend I finally broke G down and he let me get the small cabinet!!

Love!
If you live in a city with Nadeau, definitely go check it out.  Your house and wallet will thank-you!

Enjoy!

Spring Pinterest Challege - Curtains!

The stars aligned again for me to participate again in the YHL and Bower Power Spring Pinterest Challenge!  No sew Ikea - grosgrain Pottery Barn inspired curtains!

Our office was in need of some curtains and I wanted to get it done before my parents visit this past weekend.
Before
Before
I did try a few premade options from the new Threshold collection at Target (in blue and in navy), but they were too busy with the rug.

I had pinned these curtains from Pottery Barn and Etsy, but they were too pricy and not the right colors.  I do love me some grosgrain ribbon!  And this pin came up in my feed - View Along the Way blog and was sold on DIYing my own curtains!

I started out with Ritva curtains from Ikea ($25 for 2 panels in creamy/off white) and curtain rods from Home Depot ($25 each in brushed copper - matches the new door knobs) and jade grosgrain ribbon from The Hair Bow center ($14/50yds).  I hadn't picked a ribbon pattern yet, so I thought more was better.  And I would need to repeat the pattern 4 times = lots of ribbon!

The windows are close to the wall and having 2 full panels, was too much curtain, so I cut each panel in half and hemmed the bottoms.
1st - pin the curtains in half
2nd - Iron the curtains in half - helps with cutting a straight line!
3rd - I used the lines on my ironing board cover to get a straight, matching hem with iron hem tape!
4th - Finish the bottom hem!
I decided that since I wouldn't be able to get horizontal ribbon even between each panel and it would continually annoy me every time I saw it, I would stick with just vertical lines.

I used one width of ribbon as a guide for the actual ribbon and more of hem tape later (I had some hem tape already, but had to buy more, so I would guess that I used ~$10 of hem tape), and I was done!

I love how they came out and how the room is coming together!
Enjoy some more after shots -

For ~$100 I was able to DIY my own curtains and I love the look.
Hope you enjoy it too!
